The Enchanted April was published in 1922, and written while Elizabeth was staying at the Castello Brown in Italy. It tells of three young women and an older woman who spent an April in an Italian castello, and how their lives were changed.
The text was taken from the University of Adelaide ebook library, and checked against the Penguin Classics edition. I have silently corrected typos, curled quotation marks, restored italics and a scene break, set off telegrams as blockquotes, and made changes to spelling and hyphenation using oxforddictionaries.com.
