Wish I'd checked here before updating... Had all my reading progress wiped. You think it will take them another few months to fix this bug like it did for them to fix the light one? Having my reading progress be completely wiped out and having to wait through the 10+ minute importing process every time I plug it into my PC to transfer something over is not really tenable, the light bug was a lot easier to work around in comparison. (I didn't use the backlight much anyway, so it was just a matter of disabling the swipe gesture and rebooting my reader whenever I finished reading with the light on in the rare instances I needed it so it would let me turn it back off again.)

Ah well, at least this led to me discovering the very useful Kobo Utilities plugin which helped fix this relatively quickly (what I could remember anyway) along with automatically backing stuff like this up from now on so this will hopefully be less likely to be a problem in the future. For now I'll just stick to 4.4.9344 with wifi off I guess.
