That would probably be much preferable to the butter knife which I used. Must remember your suggestion the next time I need to replace a battery which, hopefully, won't be anytime soon.

Luckily, the damage which I did to my screen is almost imperceptible. People don't ever notice until I point it out. And the only purpose I use the tablet for is to hook up to a projector at work to display videos or documents on a whiteboard. Thus, so long as the screen functions, I don't mind much what it looks like.

Now, had I damaged my good tablet or any of my ereaders, I would be considerably less pleased. So I will hold onto your suggestion and hope that I never need to use it.
