you can put the IP on a round tray, such as pie or pizza pan, this way the bottom is protected when you put it on the stove top.

I usually put mine on the stove top only when it is cooking, but I have it in a round metal tray so it rests well on the stove top and it protects the bottom, the tray is almost the same size off the IP and it allows me to store the cord at the bottom, so it is also convenient when I have to move it, so the cord doesn't hang and gets caught, which happened before I started to use the tray.

Anyone use the pot in pot method? What insert do you use? I've been looking for a round pan with a handle that as no holes in it, kind of like the steam basket but without the holes, but all I can find is pans without handles or ones whose bottom isn’t flat.
