This is just not possible at all especially with technical books and scientific essays which are very often published in PDF-format only. Why do so much electronic reading devices offer some kind of PDF-support? Because PDF is a long-time used format in the eBook-world. It's the Portable Document Format - even if it's not as portable as it should be.
One can and should try to avoid PDF where possible but i don't think we can say "Don't even consider it".
