If those books were purchased from Amazon and sent directly to the Kindle via WiFi or 3G they should not have lost page numbers, assuming that they actually had them in the first place. If you provide more information about how you loaded those books on your Voyage originally and how you updated them then perhaps this can be diagnosed further. For books purchased and downloaded directly from Amazon the ASIN of a book that had this problem would be helpful.

Thanks. They were bought from Amazon and sent to my Kindle from the webpage as usual. They were not side loaded and I don't use Calibre. And they definitely had page numbers before I deleted them from my Voyage and didn't have them when I redownloaded them immediately.
I'm not terribly bothered about this, it's just a mid disappointment and curiosity.
