They closed our Sears and Kmart has been gone for years from here.
We had an under-performing store. Gee, wonder why when all the employees are in one area talking to each other and ignoring customers, oh except one who had a habit of preaching to the customers while they were wanting to talk appliances. (She did eventually lose her job.)
I went to their everything must go sell. Prices were cheaper online at Sears than their sale prices.

Kmarts have mostly disappeared from north TX. The shopping mall Sears are still around, at least some of them. I think small, rural towns still have a few Sears catalog stores, although I'm not sure why. Yep, the B&M stores like Sears were tops for so long that they didn't have to worry over being nice or helpful to customers, and that is biting them in the backside now. I think most people would rather order online and ship the goods to their homes, or go to places like Lowes and Home Depot rather than mess with shopping mall crowds at Sears.
