I bought my first ebook, from Amazon, back in very early 2012. And while I have bought a small number from other sources, I now have 435 that I bought from Amazon alone.

I still kept buying physical books for a while, especially as I often had to, as they either weren't available as an ebook or far too expensive, or I just wanted to keep books in a series all in the same format. In the last year or so, I have generally stopped buying physical books. As much as I like physical books, for a variety or reasons, I prefer reading an ebook now. Which doesn't say much for my well over 10,000 physical book collection ... many of which I have not yet read ... and often get overlooked as I turn to the next ebook ... most of which I haven't read either.

It has been a state for me for many years now, where I buy far more than I can read in a given period. I guess some would see that as some kind of addiction.

Many I got from sales tables years ago, where they were all the rage for a while. But the truth of the matter, is I follow too many authors and try to keep up with them all. I also have a wide variety of taste, and like something fresh and new, so I continue to make good discoveries. In fact, my first bought ebook, was one such ... and now I have bought about 20 by that author ... all his published works.

It is a struggle to keep up with all I should be reading, let alone all I have to read.

In more recent years, I have tamed my impulse to buy somewhat, by making sure I only buy when the price is right. To help myself with that, I created a program, that is both Wishlist and History Record and Price Checker. It has helped me see patterns in pricing, and general pick the best moment to buy. It has taught me to be patient, and I have saved considerably since I started using the program.

I use my program, KindEbook Wishlist, once or twice a day, usually at start and end. I select a couple of options and click a button, and less than 10 minutes later, I get a visual and text report of any price changes.

Many times now, I have seen an ebook drop in price by a few or several dollars, just for a day, then go back up again in price. If not for my program and diligent use, I would have missed most if not all of those 24 hour specials.

On top of all my book purchases (ebook & physical), I also have a huge collection of free ebooks, mostly from Project Gutenberg, but also a few other places.

There is no hope for me. I am addicted to books, and there is no way I will read them all in the time left to me in this life.

What am I to do? Science is progressing too slow, and immortality or some kind of life extension is still beyond my reach.
