Screw Cheerleaders..

You know...I seriously start to wonder, is it ME?

I do NOT understand what the damn problem is with using a proof form. Our proof forms, which, shall we say, are homaged, from Random House, are simple enough. It's a plain Word Table, available in other formats, including RTF, that automatically adds new rows, for items, after 50. (And yes--we get a LOT of proof forms that have more than 50 AA--Author Amendments.) For the print books, you have Page/chapter, and then the OLD, and the NEW. There are then 3 checkboxes (Edit/AA, Formatting, Other).

As the bulk of our work is still ebooks, we get the most proof forms therefor. So, WHY? WHY are they SO HARD TO USE, that people have to make up their own go**amned forms, or email, or attachments?

I have this one client that has been driving me bats, insistign that the distance from the top-margin of the reader to the chapter head, and then from the chapter head to the text, has to be just SO. That it has to be "slightly greater" in one of those distances, which in print, is easy-peasy, but in MOBI format, not so much. We've gone round and round. AND, earlier in the process, I told him that the guys are ONLY authorized to make edits from proof forms.

So, because he has decided that he wnated a bunch of links activated (that had been in his original Word files, but not, obviously, in the print version we made for him), he sends this Word file, with these instructions in them, saying things like "page 23, 7th paragraph from the end of the chapter, same link as was in the Word file," and then, has a list of 8 more, all linking the SAME WORD, to ...? Wherever?

I don't understand why the frack it would have been SO HARD to just FOLLOW THE DA** instructions. WHY is that? When I told him that the guys didn't do the links, b/c they weren't in a proof form, he then whined about "how long" it took him to do it. Really? How long do you think it takes for us to try to figure out where the hell that is? Instead of a simple "copy" (the old) paste (into the eReader) click search, and instantly, you're where the edit is?

IDGI, as the kids text. (I don't get it). Why do they INSIST on making it harder, and yet, still want the rates that we give for the properly-completed forms? Instead of our hourly?

Spoiler:
Honestly, lately, I'm sick to death of people. I really am.
