It is rather painful to connect to Wifi and then browse the Kobo store on my Kobo device. Purchase a couple of books, trigger a sync and, hot damn, the books are on my Kobo -- no computer or ADE needed. Sync my other Kobo devices, iPhone or Android tablet and they are in my library on those devices. Hmmm... borrow a book from the local library on my Kobo Aura One and sync my other devices and they also have the book.
Perhaps suggesting that your experience with your Sony ereader is the same as those using a Kobo device does not give an accurate picture?
As for other reasons for purchasing from Amazon? I ordered 3 Blu Ray videos during Prime Day with "guaranteed 2 day delivery". Here's it is four days later and I get a notice that my order has finally shipped via Canada Post. Care to make a small side bet on Canada Post getting the parcel to my door today? All this to save $3.60Cdn over purchasing the same videos from elsewhere.
