Granted, I'm of the female persuasion, but I ceased to be a girl a long time ago. Is Kobo promoting books to men with the header, "Hey, boy. Your eyes should be on these books"? Why do I think it's highly unlikely ( i.e., flatly impossible)? And in these days of people who identify as transgender, bigender or agender, is this really a productive marketing theme? Why go out of your way to seem insensitive?
That is sooooo hilarious. I deleted that email without opening it BECAUSE it started out "Hey Girl." I know that phrase became popular in the US a few years ago. Maybe it's from a movie. But I hear young ladies use it in greeting. It irritated me not because of the whole female/male thing but because it was too friendly. I only hear it used between friends, calling out to one another, sort of like guys used to call out, 'Hey bro" a while back. It just seemed inappropriately friendly to me so I deleted it without opening it.
