Thumbs up Free (Kindle) Ghost Town by S. J. Bounds [Ex-Cop Dentist vs “Ghosts” Mystery Western]

Ghost Town by the late British author S. J. Bounds (ISFDB, Wikipedia, SFE) is his standalone historical western action adventure novel, this one with strong mystery elements as an ex-New York cop changes profession to a dentist in a mining town in the Wild West, as you do, and comes across a supposed haunting keeping the town empty , while someone seems to be suspiciously buying up property, both of which lead his ex-cop instincts to investigate, free for a limited time courtesy of publisher Endeavour Press' Pioneering imprint.

This was originally published in 2000 by Robert Hale as part of their Black Horse Western line using the pseudonym Will Sutton.

Currently free @ Amazon (available to Canadians & in the UK and pretty much everywhere else Amazon sells worldwide, since this is being done via their KDP Select exclusive-or-else program)

Description
The wild west is wilder than he thought…

Phil Keyhoe always wanted to stand up for the little guy, it’s why he became a New York Cop.

But corruption is rife and after a bust-up with a vicious gang that almost killed him, Keyhoe needs a new trade.

Traveling through the frontier, he arrives at Silver Gulch, and decides to set up his own dental practice.

There’s not much to shout about in the ramshackle town, but Keyhoe soon takes a shine to the red-headed Mary-Jane.

As she tells him, Silver Gulch was once a mining town but when the silver ran out, most folk upped sticks and left.

That’s not all though.

A ghost haunts the town, scaring the few remaining folk away. Only those brave enough – or mad enough – to stay have remained.

But Keyhoe smells something ain’t right.

Pulling teeth by day and hunting so-called ghosts by night, Keyhoe soon discovers even more troublesome news – someone’s anonymously buying up all the property in the town.

And what’s more, it seems he’s not the only man whose interested in Mary-Jane…

Can Keyhoe unravel the mystery of the western ghost town before it’s too late?

Set on the edge of the once great American frontier, Ghost Town is a classic western mystery, with thrills and twists around every corner.
