If you sew, you can make yourself a quilted pouch so you can protect it a bit while carrying it or just leaving it on a desk. For that matter, you can probably find a quilted purse/wrist purse for cheap at walmart that would work. I made my first "case" although I have a fake leather type "case" now. I think I paid 7 dollars on ebay for it and the quilted one I just made from spare fabric!
