I'm afraid you're out of luck mate. There isn't a way to jailbreak 5.8.9 as yet. If someone does find a way around it, it'll probably be announced in the following thread:

The sequence I went through was 5.8.1 ➜ 5.7.4 + jailbreak ➜ 5.8.7 ➜ 5.8.9.
