I've ordered all my Kindles without ads. There aren't ever any ads on my Kindle. For those who don't care the ads consist of a screen saver ad when it's turned off and, I think, a small ad on the home page, and that's it. I've never actually seen those ads but I'm pretty sure I've read that.
