There's a few people trying, but mostly its just throwing spaghetti at the wall, and seeing if anything sticks. Nothing so far.

If there a new paperwhite on prime day ( I doubt it ), I may buy one and try to write up a tutorial using something like these guys:

These "pogo" pins would not need to be soldered.

the basic idea would be to epoxy these pins to a flat board on the outside, in the right layout, then drill some holes in the back of the case, and tape that board onto the back. You would not even have to remove the front panel at all.

They still may be good for just laying out in a block of Styrofoam, and pressing onto the contacts if you do disassemble everything.
