You need to be on the same network. I have run TightVNC with Remote Ripple Pro now through several sessions and it works just fine except that only part of the screen is used.
Also I'm a bit confused because the Max Carta is a 2200 x 1650 resolution, but the included PDF manual stated 1600 x 1200. So I don't know what kind of alternate resolutions I could try on the laptop.
