I found the directory name that is added to prevent OTA updates. I've added that and it is surviving so far.

I found the different FW files in the first post and tried adding the bin for 5.8.7 to the kindle and when I eject it, I get a message saying an invalid update has been added and it gets deleted. I guess to do this, the kindle must be jailbroken but to jailbreak it, it can't be at my FW level. Rock and a hard stone I guess.

I hope the directory name prevents any further updating and I can come back in the future and maybe I'll find jailbreak has been updated to work on my kindle.

Would a reset return me to 5.8.7.0.1, which is what I originally had?
