On this go around, the Kindle wasn't registered, so a did that, which required setting up on wifi, and still the update function is greyed out. I plug in kindle, copy bin file to it, eject kindle and go to update and it's greyed out. I plug in kindle and see that bin file is missing. Now I'm really confused. I've got a disappearing bin file.

I copied it over again using finder. The copy completes, I see the bin file in the root directory at same level as "documents". I eject the kindle and unplug. Without doing anything else, I plugged kindle back in, it's recognized in finder and the bin file is gone. It seems the bin disappears as soon as the kindle is ejected.

In step #3 it says I can validate the bin file with the txt file. How would I do that? Don't understand that one at all.
