After the reset the kindle paused at a screen, I plugged it into my mac and I have been able to copy the bin file into then top directory. Now ready to do the install.

Found a place to cancel setting up the kindle, chose that, so supposedly it's not personalized now. However the "Update You Kindle" option is greyed out.

I appreciate any help received and I'll pause here and wait for some suggestions on what I should do.
