I know about hurricane power outages. I lived most of my life on Eastern Long Island where, post-hurricane, we sometimes didn't get power back for up to 5 days. Now in the Bay Area, I have the problem of sudden, unexplained Pacific Gas and Electric power outages, sometimes for hours. I had the lousy PG&E service in mind as part of the reason to get a lighted Kindle.
I was disappointed in the Kindle's front light, though. I thought it would replicate the look of the screen being lit by ambient room light, but actually, if the room is not well enough lit in which to read, the screen looks more similar to a backlit tablet or phone than I thought it would. It sort of glows. It's okay, though. At least now when the lights go out, I don't panic and think, now what am i going to do. I can just reach for the Voyage.
