Gunsmoke Among the Cactus by the late British author Gordon Landsborough (Wikipedia, Fantastic Fiction), a prolific and pioneering multi-genre pulp fiction writer and publisher, is his vintage standalone historical western action adventure novel, this one starring a young man whose dying guardian reveals the truth behind his parents' murder when he was a child, which in turn leads the man to go undercover at the rodeo in order to get close to the culprit and exact revenge, only to find his target suspiciously prepared, free for a limited time courtesy of publisher Endeavour Press' Pioneering imprint.

This was originally published in 1954 by Ward, Lock & Co using the pseudonym Alan Holmes.

Fourteen years ago Al Bowden saved a young boy from meeting the same fate as his parents.

Now, as Al lies dying from a bullet wound, he reveals all to Steve ‘Fuzz-top’ Bowden, the boy he saved and raised as his own.

With his dying breaths, Al tells Steve of Jesse Carter, the man who ordered his parents’ murder and probably his own.

The past fourteen years have been good to Carter. He has become a successful landowner, business man and senator.

For Steve to get close to Carter, he decides to enter the Rodeo Show that he patronises and win a chance to work for him.

But Carter expects trouble, and it is only a matter of time before Bowden finds himself fighting for his life in the rodeo ring and the Gunsmoke Among The Cactus.
