Thumbs up Free (Kindle) Pillar of Night by Robert E. Vardeman [Sci-Fantasy Multiverse Quest]

Pillar of Night by Robert E. Vardeman (ISFDB, Wikipedia, SFE), a 1972 Hugo Award finalist for Best Fan Writer, in addition to being an author in his own right, is the 6th and final novel in his Cenotaph Road series of sci-fantasy hybrid pulp adventure novels set in a demonpunk “technology”-powered magical multiverse accessed by travelling the road between the worlds, this one wrapping up the storyarc started in the 3rd novel, with the plucky quest companions on the final leg of their world-hopping journey confronting the evil disembodied wizard once and for all on a strange planet that may prove their doom (or someone's doom, at any rate), free for a limited time courtesy of publisher Endeavour Press' Venture imprint.

This was originally published in 1984 by Ace Books. Venture have previously generously given us the 1st and 3rd, and 4th and 5th novels free as well, and if you happened to miss any installments, these are regularly affordably priced, and sometimes drop to just 99 cents on sale.

Currently free @ Amazon (available to Canadians & in the UK and pretty much everywhere else Amazon sells worldwide, since this is being done via their KDP Select exclusive-or-else program)

Description
The sixth and final instalment of the Cenotaph Road series, Lan Martek and Claybore are locked in a race to crack the secrets of the Pillar of Night…

Lan and Kiska k’Adesina are hunting for Claybore’s legs.

The sorcerer had been dismembered and his parts strewn along the infinite length of the Cenotaph Road.

Over the years, through the millennia, Claybore had slowly reunited his parts.

Only Lan Martak stood between Claybore and domination of not a single world but myriads of them.

Lan had destroyed the sorcerer’s skin and in his own mouth Lan tasted the metallic tang of the magical tongue once used by Claybore to speak spells and world-wrecking curses.

Now he is forced to an unknown world, a planet of evil enchantment and lost souls, where the final lesson of magic lay silenced in the tomb of a hero.

Will Lan break the spell and stop Claybore? Or will an ancient curse close the road behind him…forever?
