Are you sure you are thinking of the same book? This one was published in August 2014, so only a couple years old. Maybe you were thinking of the first book, Assassin's Apprentice, which has many of the same characters but is 2 to 4 trilogies before than this one (depending on how you count the Rain Wild and Liveship Traders books). I loved the first trilogy but haven't finished the others yet.
