Not sure what you mean by horizontal scrolling? In paged mode, pages scroll page at a time, with a horizontal scroll animation (press the page down key to see it), in flow mode, text scrolls vertically, by a small amount (approx a line) at a time. I assume you mean something else?
And as for choppy scrolling, not sure what you mean, since in paged mode it scrolls a page at a time. What does choppy mean in that context?
