I tried it with apache and it works fine for me with the following apache config:

Code:

    LoadModule proxy_module modules/mod_proxy.so
    LoadModule proxy_http_module modules/mod_proxy_http.so

    RewriteEngine on
    RewriteRule ^/calibre/(.*) http://127.0.0.1:8080/calibre/$1 [proxy]
    RedirectMatch permanent ^/calibre$ /calibre/

Which is what is in the manual.
