That's the Bureau of Meterology telling us that the city is covered by light grey cloud-looking smoky haze which is going to hang round for a while. Fortunately it's also helping cool the place down a bit which is nice.

The bushfires currently dominate the media here with the start of a serious shitfight between those who want to continue (re)building easy-burn houses in bushfire areas and those who don't support the former people's right to kill themselves in the manner of their choosing. Oh, and the "this is nothing to do with AGW" and "clearfell everything to stop bushfires" crowds are also active. It's all a bit looney if you ask me.

I've been largely unaffected by the fires, have one friend who was concerned about his place burning but has a shelter (with scuba gear) and a decent fire plan. So no real risk there.
