A little less than a year. And Kobo refused to honour warranty because I got it off eBay. I had no choice because I can only buy off US stores since I live in Asia and the forwarder only accepts US-based purchases and that time, the Kobo store was apparently only delivering from Canada.
Already did a bit of troubleshooting with the Glo over at the other side of the forum (thanks to Davidfor, et. al, to no avail. Took a bit for me to fulfill all the 5 stages of grief over it but I've accepted it that it's now a paperweight.
that's the reason I went over to this side and got a Kindle.
