Even if it was possible to read KU titles on non-Amazon apps or devices the result would be that the author did not get paid. KU pays authors on the basis of pages read, which are only tracked by Amazon apps/devices. Unlike other models, the loss in KU is borne solely by the author. Use an Amazon app or device. You can read on your PC/Mac or most devices with a web browser with no outlay. Basic Kindles are very cheap and good value, and often on sale, though I truly think the best value is the Paperwhite. Used Kindles can often be bought dirt cheap. Kindle Fire tablets are also cheap and excellent value. If you want e-ink but don't want a Kindle the Amazon app will run on most e-ink Android tablets.
