Okay, I set the Alarm default sound to Countertop and turned up the volume. Now that gets my attention, and probably the neighbors's attention too!

One caveat though. Whatever you set the volume to for Alarms or Timers, that volume is used for both. If I set the volume on the Alarms to very loud, but then set the volume for Timers to medium, medium will be used for both. That is stupid, and hopefully they will correct that issue in the future.
