I give up. I used one of your example phrases--"Alexa, set kitchen timer for 1 minute"--and Alexa asked me if that was a.m. or p.m.

This feature is far too temperamental and wonky for me to rely on it. Seems like by the time Alexa understands the command, a significant part of the desired time period would have elapsed. I'll wait for an update.
