I don't know how much battery life I'll get out of the RP1 but I know it will be better than the iPads and the Surface Pros, for reasons I stated.

Not heaping scorn, just allergic to garbage marketing statements by big companies - particularly when they are repeated by users on this forum that should know better - such as 'weeks of battery life' that come with totally unrealistic footnotes regarding usage (in this case: 1 hour max use of the device per day, 1 minute max use of the stylus per day (!), no wifi and bluetooth, sleep mode rest of the day).
If you use the iPad for 1 hour per day just to read a PDF file - with WiFi and Bluetooth off and up to 1 minute use of the Apple Pencil per day, you'll also get more than a week of battery life. Totally unrealistic in real life usage but good marketing talk.
