It's the 2.7.1 release and I also have "Set EPUB metadata" 1.25.0.
I don't know of a reason it wouldn't work. It is working with 3.0 and 1.48 on my Windows machine. I'd suggest removing it and installing it again.

@BR: KePub Metadata Writer is in the plugin index. It's the only metadata writer plugin.
