FREE theWord Bible Software

I hope that this is the correct thread for this sort of thing. I still haven't figured out the MobileRead search function! I did scan posts on the "Christian Interest" thread and couldn't find any similar item there. If this is the wrong place, would someone let me know, and I will move it promptly after I see your message!

DiscountBible.com offers their theWord [sic] Bible Software, as a free download.

This is actually software, and not a web-based Bible program such as, for example, Olive Tree is.

I don't know how good the program is, yet. I haven't had the opportunity to check ratings or reviews on the Web for it. I did download it for myself, and want to take it on a test drive one of these days. Probably it's pretty decent, though, because DiscountBible.com has some some more advanced (and, most assuredly, not free) software that I'm sure that they hope that folks will upgrade to, once they experience theWord.

Unlike a slew of other Bible software that have a free version, this one does not offer any free books (additional to what are pre-installed on the program) that I could find. That is, except for Martin Luther's commentary on Galatians and it, oddly enough, is in the ePub format, which makes me wonder if a person even can run it on theWord.

This is as good a place as any to check the in's and out's of this freebie.

Oh, I forgot to mention: DiscountBible does require that you register in order to get the freebie. If you're like me and already have a stuffed inbox already, what with all of the advertisements, princes from Nigeria wanting to send you a million dollars, ad nauseam, you will be happy to know that it looks like you can opt out of their newsletters by simply not putting a tic in a box for it on a webpage in the registration process.
