If you can find a Nexus 7 (2013), it's a very nice tablet and might not cost, being older. Mine is still rocking strong after almost 4 years. But it might be tricky to find one with a good battery. Though I will say, battery life has held up well on mine!

The screen is high resolution, so nice for reading and the tablet has camera, GPS, Bluetooth, all that good stuff. Runs Android Marshmallow. So quite decent for bells and whistles.
