I know the Dash Wand is new so people likely don't know, but I figured I'd try. I ordered one because it's pretty much free and comes with the Amazon Fresh trial so I'll be able to answer my own questions on the 18th.

I had not even heard of it until you asked! Here is a
link for those who are interested in the Dash Wand. Looks like a cool little device. Judging from the video they have of it, it seems to have similar function of a Dot, but as you mentioned, no music capability, plus it can scan bar codes. For $20 this could be a good Dot alternative for those who don't need the music capability.
