Ya'll are going to have trouble believing this, but I'm telling you the truth.
I just went through the entire checkout procedure for The Great Courses sale, except for the final step of "confirm purchase," and the total is
$0.00. I selected two books. Under "order summary," it showed something like this:
Credits applied 0($0.00)
Total $0.00
Confirm Purchase.
As I mentioned earlier, I am not even a credit member: I am just an InactiveLighter.
I was afraid to click on "confirm purchase"--because of ethics, law, MobileRead rules, and all of those things. This issue goes way beyond a pricing mistake, which perhaps a person can take advantage of without doing anything wrong. But I wondered what would have happened if I had clicked on "confirm purchase" and the sale had gone through (other than a U.S. Marshal probably giving me a knock on the door later this morning. ha)???
The only thing that I possibly can imagine that has caused this quirk is the fact that I got all of my log ins and sign ins messed up several months ago; I had to log in just to be able to go through the purchase process just now.
I wish that I could send you a screen shot or something. I tried to create a PDF, but I don't even have the tools to edit one of those (Paint wouldn't do it). Then there's the MobileRead pixel limit rule to be concerned about. This is just not my forte. I'll keep the webpage/tab open; maybe I can figure out a way to make an editable image and attach it to one of these messages.
