Thanks Shalym but that didn't quite do it.
Kindle is already selected to 'On Device' as opposed to the cloud.
I included some screen shots to help everyone see the problem I'm having.
For some reason mobilereads would let me upload photos so I put them on Imgur.

As you can see the book comes up when I search for it but it isn't where it should be in 'titles' nor is it at the top of my recents list.
