@obelice: It doesn't seem to work for KA1 for reasons unclear.
I want to re-write parts of this script (to do proper RGBA handling for the scanline at least, not sure if that will fix anything) but I simply lack the time / motivation to do so (anything Kobo-mod-related) at the moment.
If someone wants to take over, feel free - it's open source in my GitHub.
There was also another screensaver mod which I believe used LD_PRELOAD to hook itself directly into nickel... I didn't like this approach (and it clashes with nightmode, KSM, and other mods that do the same and modify the rcS script to do it) but it might be the more reliable route after all, who knows.
