I do most of my Prime video and Netflix watching on my laptop, which is connected by wire to my router, but I do a lot of it also on tablets via Wifi. It works just fine for me. My connection is 12mbs nominally and usually I don't have latency issues. There have been a couple of times when I had to switch to my laptop due to latency.
I'm using a fairly old (4 or 5 years) router. It's a good one, or was in it's day. It does have dual channel but no AC. Only a few of my tablets are dual channel.
