The key word in your post is "converting". When you do conversion, calibre rewrites the code. This includes renaming the styles. This happens because it would be virtually impossible to not need to rename something during a conversion. There is no way to stop this from happening except to not do a conversion.
As to the "mbp_pagebreak", I usually associate that with a conversion from a MOBI or other Kindle format to an ePub. But, as your first sample looks like code from an epub, I assume it was an epub-to-epub conversion, so I don't know where it came from.
