handwriting files recovery and calibration behaviour

I bought my ereader onyx n96ML (pen+light) from ereader store in Germany and I am quite satisfied but I would like to have control of my Note files. I want to save the files of the Note app in an editable form. I know the function export has been added but it saves the file as pictures while I would like to save my notes externally as a backup in a way that allows me to continue editing my notes in the app.
Do I need to root the device? Is there a way to access my notes inside the device and copy maybe files or changing them so I can have a backup of my notes?

I have noticed a behaviour about the calibration. The device is calibrated horizontally and the Note app works great but if I want to start writing in landscape the pen is not precise at all. So if you recalibrate again by having the device oriented in landscape now landscape writing is precise but portrait becomes uncalibrated.
I tried resetting calibration but this behaviour remains. So one needs to recalibrate everytime.
I have to say the Note app is quite fast in writing now with the 1.8.2 firmware.

Sometimes the pen or the panel register a touch before the pen actually touches the device.
Please give me advices if any. Thanks.
