Well now everything is bigger in Texas including (oh someone else fill in the word.)
Gov.-elect Greg Abbott on Thursday singled out local ordinances on single-use plastic bags, tree cutting and fracking as tantamount to turning the Lone Star State into California.

Our governor has initiated a battle with the city of Austin (or arguably, the other way around). He has called Austin the "People's Republic of Austin".

Understand that the city of Austin would probably be more comfortable in California, and that the city's unofficial slogan of "keep Austin weird" is faithfully practiced.

However, it is the city where my daughter and her wife lives, and which I love in spite of and because of it's weirdness. It is somewhere between a bad sheep and a galvanizing force.

So, for now, I am sitting back to enjoy the battle. Remember, Texas was the state that sent the Texas Rangers to arrest democatic congressmen who left to state to stop bills that they didn't have enough votes to stop (lack of quorum). Just gotta smile sometimes.
