Consider that if your book gets stolen or misplaced, the finder can read it all he likes. Disabling the device makes it a deterent to steal the device. But what if the owner misplaces it? Maybe it should display a message with email contact to allow the finder to contact iLiad so that it can be returned to the rightful owner?

Guess it cuts both ways. But I can already imagine disabled iLiads piling up some refuse dum.
