I have been using Calibre for a number of years. I had several thousand books in a library, only to lose the Calibre library due to a disk crash (I know. Backup!). However, I had exported most of the books to a separate location in an organization I prefer.

Now when I attempt to reimport those epubs, I have discovered that the metadata is missing. Obviously, I didn't do something correctly the first time. So this time, I tested by adding a book, editing the metadata, and polishing the epub. I deleted the original_epub. I then saved the file to disk.

However, when I try to reimport this file, the metadata is missing again. My understanding in the conversion process plus the polishing should have locked the metadata into the epub file. Am I wrong? Or did I miss a setting or step?
