I can't read series books back to back for this very reason. The author's tics start to grate and I can't pick up a book by them (even another series) for a very long time. Even if there's a cliffhanger and I'm dying to know what happens, I have to make myself read a couple other books before starting the next in the series.

And it's so true that certain things pop out in audio vs reading.
