I'm in the US and bought my Glo HDs from Chapters. I didn't have a defective unit, but I found their customer support to be truly fantastic when one of the readers was lost in transit. I have no doubt it would be an easy return for a defective unit at Chapters.
As for returning books themselves, how often does that happen? I wouldn't be concerned about the return policy on ebooks, just on the ereader hardware.
