 We must agree to differ, Jon. Personally, I think the behaviour of the Kindle is entirely sensible in this regard: if I open a book, it's because I want to read it, not look at the cover. If I do want to look at the cover, I can simply go back a page or two and see it, but I certainly don't want that to be the default behaviour.
If you prefer the behaviour of ePub books, perhaps you should stick to those.
