We get so much coverage on the lamestream media about death and destruction, that this looked like it would be a refreshing read. And, the markdown is fine (80%), and the ratings outstanding (4.7 (18) Amazon; 4.42 (458) at GoodReads).

In all of the years that we (Americans) have been fighting in Afghanistan, I have seen only one documentary (advertised, and watched only that one) about average people in the country. Just one. It was fascinating. This promises to be, too.
