The screenshot comes from Calibre, so, I don't think the spaces are created by the readers since I have this problem on two different readers (Calibre and Kobo and I just Sumatra).
Concerning the file, it's an epub (in the screenshot). The problem is the same on the kepub converted from the epub.
I did not examine the book : I am a novice, I don't know anything about it.
